Vieyra-Ruíz, Horacio

Overview

Dr. Horacio Vieyra Ruiz is a Professor and Researcher in the Department of Mechanics and Advanced Materials at Campus Toluca. He earned his Bachelor¿s degree from the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) and holds both a Master¿s and a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the Center for Research in Applied Science and Advanced Technology (CICATA-IPN). He is a Level I Member of the National System of Researchers (SNI), and his work focuses on research, teaching, and the training of human resources in the field of advanced polymeric materials. His research lines include the reinforcement and characterization of biodegradable polymers using natural fibers and nanoparticles, the development of bio-based copolymers for automotive applications, and the fabrication of biocompatible polymeric membranes for therapeutic use. He also works on molding processes of sustainable and biodegradable polymers for end-use products, as well as on the use of nanoparticles and electrospinning techniques to enhance the performance of functional materials. He has participated in interinstitutional projects with Tecnológico de Monterrey, IPN, and the Secretariat of Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation, focused on the development of polymeric nanofiber dressings for the treatment of infectious diseases. His career combines scientific rigor and technological innovation, always guided by a sustainable and socially impactful approach.
