Díaz-Lara, Alfredo
Overview
Alfredo Diaz-Lara has a bachelor's degree from the Chapingo Autonomous University (Universidad Autonoma Chapingo in Spanish) in Mexico, thus, he has a major in Agriculture with a specialization in Plant Pathology. Later, he obtained a Ph.D. in Botany and Plant Pathology at Oregon State University (OSU). From 2017 to 2020, he held a postdoctoral position in Foundation Plant Services (FPS) at University of California-Davis. His research focuses on the epidemiology of plant viruses with economic importance, investigating the incidence and mechanisms of transmission. Additionally, he is identifying novel viruses using high throughput sequencing (HTS). As result of his work, he has published more than twenty-five peer-reviewed scientific articles in different international journals and several book chapters. In 2020, Dr. Diaz-Lara joined the Department of Bioengineering in the School of Engineering and Sciences at Tecnologico de Monterrey, Campus Queretaro. Currently, he is member of the American Phytopathological Society (APS) and the National Researchers Council (SNI) in Mexico.
