abstract
- In the context of segregated metropolises, it is essential to reflect on the concept of proximity, which is defined and constructed based on the diverse experiences of city dwellers. Two case studies in the Guadalajara metropolitan area are analyzed: a suburban area of luxury gated communities adjacent to a traditional neighborhood, and a non-central historic neighborhood with the recent insertion of new gated housing. The novelty of this work lies in its specific focus on the concept of ¿proximity¿ and the exploration of how it is defined differently depending on the socioeconomic and spatial context analyzed. © 2025 Instituto Universitario de Urbanística de la Universidad de Valladolid.
