abstract

  • The teaching of project management, particularly in economic evaluation and justification, poses significant challenges for engineering students, who often struggle to systematically visualize all cost elements associated with a project, especially during the prefeasibility stages and final solution selection. Within the framework of the Tec21 educational model, where each student participates in 20 to 24 industry-university projects throughout their program, a concerning trend has been observed in the reports generated: the omission of key economic elements, such as direct and indirect costs and administrative expenses, leading to erroneous conclusions of under or overvaluation of projects. Motivated by surveys applied to graduates and employers, the need to strengthen the learning of accurate cost dimensioning in projects was identified. In response, financial and economic tools were designed as interfaces to develop the competence of integrating all economic elements into projects. In this first stage, the innovation was exemplified through applications in the automotive and aerospace industries, documenting the results obtained in their implementation. © 2025, Asociacion Espanola de Direccion e Ingenieria de Proyectos (AEIPRO).
