- © 2019 IEEE.This paper proposes the implementation and analysis of a student survey to evaluate the perception of undergraduate and graduate engineering students have regarding the use of power electronics in the new electrical field. Also, a comparison between the undergraduate power electronics program of Tecnologico de Monterrey and the graduate program of Arizona State University is presented. The objective of this work is to use Fuzzy Logic Type 2 Signal Detection Theory to evaluate the results of the surveys and find the qualities of both educational models and propose a general educational methodology to standardize the general concepts required for future generations of engineers that intend to work in the electrical field. The results obtained demonstrate that both graduate and undergraduate students are sure that their power electronics programs are adequate to their specialization necessities, considering even the uncertainty levels when answering the perception survey.
