Therefore, an adequate waste management system becomes crucial in order to ensure the safety in the production area. This research work analyzes waste management practices in a bottling plant, and redefines the logistics system related to disposal of recyclable wastes in production lines in order to reduce the number of trips dedicated to this operation. This study shows that the capacity of containers needed to be proportional to the waste generation rate and that a lack of a defined segregation of residues within such container causes contamination, disabling different wastes for their further recycling. As a result, a proposal for new container specifications, a waste disposal schedule and waste management practices are implemented resulting in a 75% decrease in the frequency of trips related to waste disposal from the bottling plant, and consequently reducing the time invested by the workers.
