All Rights Reserved.Since 2016 the program "Semestre i" has been implemented as part of the teaching-learning model in the Tecnológico de Monterrey, on route to the Tec 21 Model [1]. The objective of this program is to develop competencies in students by solving challenges with real problems in companies and at the same time, they learn theoretical knowledge of their profession in learning modules. This is possible because we have organizations very committed and interested in students living these challenging experiences. The Industrial and System Engineering Department has offered five ¿Semestre i¿ editions. Students and teachers together with educator partner leaders have participated in this learning experience to solve challenges to improve processes in the value chain with different organizations. This paper describes the evolution of the ¿Semestre i¿ from its first version to the last; changes to the original program to adjust to challenges each semester; the work of the different challenges during the semester; how is evaluated development of students competencies; why more educator partner have been interested; and the benefits obtained by the students and organizations.
