- © 2022 Elsevier B.V.Population growth over time has provoked an urgency to ensure food security. The issue of food sustainability transitions has sparked the interest of researchers due to food security being one of the greatest challenges of the new century. It is important to document that ensuring food security does not mean only a boost in food production, if not, it is something even more complex. The challenge includes the adaptation of eating habits and the implementation of new technologies and strategies that allow the food production system to be sustainable and environmentally friendly. A route with the purpose of securing natural resources while climate change is halted. This article shows a brief description of the actual situation of food security transitions considering transition strategies and the limitation caused by natural resources focused on water requirements.
