Powertrain Sizing and Methodology Development for a Neighborhood Electric Vehicle for a Paraplegic and Elderly Person Academic Article in Scopus uri icon

abstract

  • In this paper, the methodology to model and simulate a powertrain for a single-seater NEV or LSV electric vehicle designed for paraplegic individuals or wheelchair users were conducted. The backward facing vehicle model was used with a total mass of 325 [kg], a maximum climbing angle of 15°, and the JP 10 Mode driving cycle limited to 35 [km/h] for safety reasons. The focus was on energy analysis and evaluating the state of charge without utilizing regenerative braking. Various simulations and a design of experiments were performed, modifying different parameters to assess the vehicle's behavior. The construction involved the use of two 2 [kW] in-wheel motors, and existing vehicle systems were reused to reduce costs and manufacturing time, supported by a round tubular frame chassis. © 2023 IEEE.
