All rights reserved.Producing enough food to achieve food security has many individual obstacles that among those would require a change in mindset to identify other food sources instead of the small range, low diversity and animal-based products currently used. Novel Food is a food or food ingredient with no significant history of consumption within the European Union before May 15, 1997. Among the most promising examples of novel food proteins are: insects, single cell and algae-based proteins.
