Tribological composites are classified into self-lubricating, friction, electrically conductive, high and low temperature resistant and self-healing, respectively, according to their application in different components of automobiles. The friction, wear and lubrication fundamentals for polymer composites, the most typical tribological testing and standard methods, as well as materials prospects, namely, green composites and nanocomposites, for different automotive components, including some applications in the coming electric or zero emission vehicles, are also presented.
