  • Technology progress has favored an accelerated development of AI (Artificial Intelligence) in various areas of life, for example, the use of chatbots from online services, translators, facial recognition passwords, etc. In the educational area, there are several companies that use AI engines to generate adaptive learning environments with predetermined or on-demand content. The vast amount of data collected in online courses has enhanced learning analytics; however, AI is a poorly understood, controversial, and unattainable topic, so it is important that its fundamental ideas are accessible by teachers allowing them to visualize their potential as a didactic tool that improves the student¿s learning experience. Therefore, this chapter first offers a simple look at AI in education, then some applications from the literature are shown, and finally, we present a case study on the use of a predictive algorithm in higher education in a face-to-face environment. © 2024 selection and editorial matter, Manuel Cebral-Loureda, Elvira G.
