Rangel-Ramirez, Jose Guadalupe
Overview
José Guadalupe Rangel-Ramírez holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Aalborg University, Denmark (2011), an M.Sc. in Structural Engineering from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas. He currently serves as Full-Time Professor of Civil Engineering at Tecnológico de Monterrey, Puebla Campus.
His academic and professional career spans institutions in Mexico and Europe, including tenure-track appointments as Assistant Professor in System Risk Modelling and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Aalborg University, as well as research positions at the Institute of Engineering of UNAM and Universidad Veracruzana.
His research focuses on risk analysis, reliability, and probabilistic modeling applied to civil and infrastructure systems, with emphasis on the development of computational frameworks that integrate stochastic modeling, uncertainty quantification, performance-based assessment, and reliability-informed planning. He has served as principal and senior investigator in projects funded by the European Union, COWIFONDEN, TotalEnergies, and Mexican public-sector agencies, covering applications in offshore structures, wind energy, tunnel evacuation, seismic assessment of hospitals, and construction cost modeling.
He is the author of peer-reviewed publications in international journals and conferences, has developed computational tools adopted by research institutions (SIB, TURAS, PIPA), and has supervised more than 25 graduate and undergraduate theses. In 2025, he was elected Lead Coordinator of the Structural Eng. Committee of the Puebla State Association of Civil Engineers.
