Cabral-Torres, René

Overview

Dr. René Cabral Torres is a full professor of economics and finance and leader of the Applied Research in Administration, Finance, and Economics group at Tec de Monterrey and EGADE Business School. He has been a professor at Tec de Monterrey for 25 years, an economist in the Economic Research Department at Banco de México, and a consultant for the World Bank, other national and international governments, and institutions. He has been a visiting research professor at King's Business School in London, Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government, Georgetown University, and the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington, D.C. His research has been published in scientific journals such as the European Journal of Political Economy, Structural Change and Economic Dynamics, Research in Transportation Business and Management, Empirical Economics, the Southern Economic Journal, Economic Modeling, Contemporary Economic Policy, Research in Economics, the North American Journal of Economic and Finance, among others. Dr. Cabral is a member of the National System of Researchers of Mexico (level II), a member of the editorial board of the journal Measurement: Interdisciplinary Research and Perspectives, associate editor of the Mexican Journal of Economics and Finance, and a member of the editorial committee of the journal Investigación Económica de la UNAM. In 2024, he served as an adjunct researcher at the Texas-Mexico Center at Southern Methodist University. René is an economist who graduated from Tec de Monterrey. He has a master's degree in finance from EGADE Business School and holds a master's degree and a doctorate in economics from the University of York in the United Kingdom.
