Vicencio-Ortiz, Julio César

Overview

Dr. Julio César Vicencio Ortiz graduated from the Technological Institute of Cd. Madero (in 1990), where he obtained the title of Industrial Engineer in Production and recognition for the best average of his generation. He completed the Master of Science, with a specialty in Systems and Quality at the ITESM Campus Monterrey (in 1995), and obtained the doctorate degree in Industrial Engineering at Oklahoma State University (in 2010) with support from the Fulbright Program. In 2017 he completed a second master's degree at the Virtual University of Tec de Monterrey called "Master in Innovation for Business Development". His professional experience has been developed in the area of warehouses in the petrochemical industry, in the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives in the self-service industry, in the field of systems consulting and continuous quality improvement projects, and in university teaching. His teaching work began in 1996 at the Tec de Monterrey Tampico Campus, moving to the Querétaro Campus in 1999, the Saltillo Campus in 2010, and the Aguascalientes Campus in 2014. The subjects he teaches are Administrative Statistics, Statistical Quality Control, Statistical Engineering, Design of Experiments, Economic Engineering, Optimization Models, Quality Management Strategies, Project Viability, among others. During his doctoral studies, he was also an instructor at Oklahoma State University teaching the subject Work Design (from 2007 to 2009) and as a Teaching Assistant in the subject Statistical Quality Control, which earned him the Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award in the 2009. He was technically responsible for a FOMIX CONACYT project ¿ Government of the State of Coahuila. He was also a member of the Interinstitutional Committee for the Evaluation of Foreign Scholarships of the CONACYT Call ¿ Government of the State of Coahuila. His area of interest is quality-productivity management and improvement systems and methodologies. He maintains a constant connection with the industry through Six Sigma academic projects (developed by his students in the Statistical Engineering subject). Dr. Vicencio also participates as instructor in the Six Sigma certification and Core Tools modules offered on campus.
