Ruíz-Soto, Gabriela María
Overview
Dr. Gabriela Ruiz is a multidisciplinary professional with expertise in the health sciences and engineering fields. Since 2003, she has worked at the School of Medicine and Health Sciences at Tecnologico de Monterrey in various administrative and academic roles across two campuses. Her diverse academic and professional background enables her to communicate effectively in both engineering and healthcare, fostering enriching collaborations among researchers across the university. Such multidisciplinary collaboration let her obtain three patents in the bioengineering field.
For the past five years, she has served as the Associate Director (Associate Dean) of the Health Sciences Division at Tecnologico de Monterrey, overseeing operations for the Medicine, Biosciences, Nutrition and Wellness, and Clinical Psychology programs at the Mexico City Campus.
She has extensive experience in curriculum design, outcomes-based education, challenge-based education, and instructional design. She has contributed to the development of various undergraduate programs in the healthcare fields and have taught at both undergraduate and graduate levels for over 30 years.
She is strongly committed to inclusion, diversity, and equity within and outside the university. She has mentored young female professionals in STEM and healthcare, helping them to develop their full potential.
She is fluent in English and Spanish, which enabled her to coordinate the translation of a series of clinical engineering books from English to Spanish, and she translated one of the books herself. Additionally, she can read Portuguese.
