Ruíz-Soto, Gabriela María
Overview
Gabriela Ruiz is a physicist graduated from Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM) and obtained the degrees of M.Sc. in Mechatronics and Optical Engineering, and Ph.D. in Biomedical and Electronics Engineering, both from Loughborough University, U.K.
She worked in the industry of medical devices for Carl Zeiss Mexico, as marketing and technical adviser, and worked as a professor and researcher at CINVESTAV del IPN Guadalajara Unit, in Mexico.
She joined Tecnologico de Monterrey (ITESM) in 2001, where she was appointed Chair of the Biomedical Engineering Department from 2003 to 2012. She moved to Campus Mexico City and was Chair of the Bioengineering Department from 2015 to July 2017; she is currently Head of the Clinical and Health Psychology Department. At Tecnologico de Monterrey she has been also member of the academic senate.
Her professional activity is focused on the development of medical devices, area in which she has a number of publications, patent applications and granted patents.
She has carried out consulting activities and offered courses for the industry. She is member of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society and SOMIB. Also, she coordinated the translation into Spanish of a series of six books "'HOW TO MANAGE' SERIES FOR HEALTHCARE TECHNOLOGY" and translated herself one of them.
