Sandoval-Castro, Xóchitl Yamile

Overview

Yamile Sandoval-Castro has a distinguished academic and research background. She earned her bachelor's degrees in communication and Electronics from Universidad Autonóma de Zacatecas in 2009. Subsequently, in 2011, she completed her MSc in Instrumentation and Automatic Control at the Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro. She obtained her PhD in Advanced Technology from the Instituto Politécnico Nacional. From 2016 to 2023, Dr. Sandoval-Castro held a prestigious CONACyT National Research Fellowship at the Research Center for Applied Science and Advanced Technology (CICATA-IPN). During this period, her research was centered around the applications of service robots, encompassing both hard and soft materials. Her contributions spanned the entire spectrum of the field, including design, modeling, and manufacturing of robots. Dr. Sandoval-Castro also worked at the Universidad Politécnica de Querétaro and served as a lecturer at Tecnológico Nacional de México and TecMilenio. Furthermore, she supervised 6 Master's students. She is authorship of numerous research articles published in esteemed scientific journals and presented at international conferences. In July 2023, she became a faculty member at Tecnológico de Monterrey in the Department of Mechatronics Engineering. She teaches robotics classes and is currently engrossed in research that centers on the advancement of smart mechanisms and robotics. Her approach incorporates bio-inspired design principles and the application of art techniques such as origami and kirigami. Additionally, her research explores novel manufacturing methods and the utilization of soft materials. On the other hand, in his professional and personal agenda, he actively promotes female participation in scientific research and advocates for gender equality in the field of robotics.
