Alvarado-Uribe, Joanna
Overview
Joanna Alvarado-Uribe is currently the Living Lab Coordinator in the Department of Living Lab & Data Hub of the Institute for the Future of Education (IFE) at Tecnologico de Monterrey in Mexico. Previously, she was a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Competitive Intelligence for Research and in the Academic Department of the School of Government of the same institution. She received the PhD degree in Computer Science, with a major in Intelligent Systems, from the Tecnologico de Monterrey. She is an adjunct researcher at the Research Group on Machine Learning of the School of Engineering and Sciences from the Tecnologico de Monterrey. Moreover, Joanna is a member of the National Research System (SNI) - Rank Candidate, an adherent member of the Mexican Academy of Computing (AMEXCOMP), and a member of the CONACYT Collaboration Network on Applied Computational Intelligence (RedICA). Her research interests include Machine Learning, User Profile Modeling, Semantic Web Technology, Recommendation Systems, Data Science, Internet of Things, and Natural Language Processing. She is the author of articles published in Journals and Conferences and has participated in different projects between the EU and Mexico focused on strengthening cooperation in ICT research and innovation, accelerating the dissemination and adoption of the FIWARE technologies in Mexico, and developing FIWARE-based applications oriented to Smart City and, Data and Context Management. She is currently collaborating on research, development, and entrepreneurship projects related to indoor monitoring using environmental variables, Machine Learning algorithms, and the Internet of Things.
