Quesnel-Alvarez, Jacinto
Overview
Jacinto Quesnel is the National Director of the Bachelor¿s in Digital Arts (LAD) at Tecnológico de Monterrey and a co-architect of the Master¿s in Digital Arts and New Media (MAM-L). A PhD candidate in Arts and Design (UNAM), he is an artist, curator, and cultural manager with extensive experience at Mexico¿s Center for Digital Culture (CCD), where he founded the Games Lab and later served as an external curator, and is also co-founder of DEVHR (International Game Forum). His practice weaves creation, technology, and pedagogy: a driver of the video game industry in the Global South, game designer, cultural organizer and game jam convener, as well as a developer of XR/AR labs and participatory experiences. In academia, he advances teaching and practice-based research, and has led projects with museums, festivals, and studios in Mexico and abroad.
His approach ¿art + technology + play¿ flattens hierarchies between the local and the global, the popular and the scholarly; it expands the categories of art and activates meaning and community through experimentation, collaboration, and impact metrics.
