Rivas-Gómez, Elfide Mariela

Overview

Mariela Rivas Gómez, PhD in Architecture and Urban Research with SUMMA CUM LAUDE mention and Excellence Scholarship from the Mexican Agency of International Cooperation for Development (AMEXCID). Government of Mexico. She is a research professor at the School of Architecture, Art and Design (EAAD) of the Tecnológico de Monterrey. Member of the National System of Researchers (SNI-candidate level). Between 2006 and 2016, she was a teacher in the Urbanism program at Universidad Simón Bolívar in Caracas, Venezuela. Also in that South American country, she was manager at the National Housing Council (1999-2001) and at the Housing Institute, attached to the Government of the State of Miranda (2009-2016). In the private sector, he coordinated in Venezuela a dozen projects for the Physical Rehabilitation of Popular Neighborhoods and Urban-Environmental Projects. The latest work has been developed in Monterrey, Mexico as leader of the Arroyo Vivo Project. Remediation and Recycling Model in the Campana-Altamira initiative and in the year 2021 he developed the Preliminary Study of Urban Resilience of the Municipality of San Pedro Garza Garcia, NL, Mexico. Her main lines of research are: 1. Risk management and resilience in vulnerable cities and communities and 2.The housing problem in the global south. In 2011 he received the Medal and Diploma of Honor for Merit in its Only Class from the Governor of the Bolivarian State of Miranda, awarded by Governor Henrique Capriles Radonski. Venezuela
