Rivas-Gómez, Elfide Mariela
Overview
Mariela Rivas Gómez, Ph.D in Architecture and Urban Affairs. She is currently a research professor at the EAAD of the Tecnológico de Monterrey and a National System of Researchers member.
She taught Urban Planning at Universidad Simón Bolívar in Caracas, Venezuela, from 2006 to 2016 and held managerial roles at the National Housing Council and the Housing Institute in Miranda, Venezuela, between 1999 and 2016.
In the private sector, she coordinated numerous projects for the Physical Rehabilitation of Popular Neighborhoods and Urban-Environmental Projects in Venezuela. She was a postgraduate professor at the School of Architecture of the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL), consolidating her academic experience. Her main lines of research focus on risk management and resilience in vulnerable cities and communities, as well as on the housing problem in the global south.
