Overview
Juan Guillermo Sotelo holds a Ph.D. in Engineering Sciences with a specialization in Robotics and Materials Science from Tecnológico de Monterrey. His career combines teaching, applied research, and educational innovation in Mechatronics, Manufacturing, and Materials Engineering, with a strong focus on academic mentoring and student success during the first semesters of their programs.
He has taught courses in circuit analysis, sensors and actuators, mechatronic architecture, instrumentation, IoT, robotics, CNC, and prototyping, designing project- and challenge-based learning experiences that strengthen students¿ autonomy, critical thinking, and capacity for innovation. His work includes supporting students in planning their academic trajectories, guiding the selection of courses, research stays, and practical experiences, as well as collaborating with academic coordinations in course review, curriculum improvement, and the preparation of evidence for evaluation and accreditation processes.
In research, he specializes in the development of sensors and smart materials, particularly chemical sensors, functional polymers, and advanced textiles, collaborating with national and international laboratories and participating in industry-linked projects.
