Overview
Dr. de la Peña received his major in Economics from Tecnológico de Monterrey in 1988, and in 2007 received his Ph.D in Public Administration and Policy from the University of Arizona, in which he analyzed the relationship between Foreign Direct Investment and the creation of a new entrepreneurial class in México.
Pablo de la Peña has held several positions within the ITESM System since 1989. General Director in Obregón Campus (1995-1997), Director of the Center for Strategic Studies at ITESM in Hermosillo (1997-2000), Academic Dean in Hermosillo Campus (2007-2011), Director of the Graduate School in Public Administration in Guadalajara (2011-2014)
Dr. De la Peña has coordinated several projects in Regional Development, Strategic Planning and Security and Prevention, such as: such as "Identifying the Economic Engines for Sonora" "Hermosillo's Vision for 2025"; "Identification of Strategic Opportunities for Sonora's Industrial Clusters", "Towards a Knowledge Based Economy in Sonora", and more recently: a bi-national project with the Arizona State University to identify business opportunities for the Automotive, Aerospace and Medical Equipment Clusters in México.
Dr. De la Peña has also coordinated key projects about public safety in Zapopan, Jalisco, one of them is the Observatory for Crime and Social Safety in the city and the City's Security and Social Safety Strategic Plan. In Jalisco Dr. De la Peña was member of the Jalisco Council for Public Policy Evaluation, and member of the State Council of Information and Transparency. He is currently professor of Public Sector Economics and Applied Public Administration.
In addition to be the Associate Dean of Continuous Education at the School of Social Sciences at Tec de Monterrey, Dr. de la Peña is also the Director of the School of Government and Public Transformation in Monterrey City.
