Dr. Laura Lucila Gómez Romero obtained a Bachelor's degree in Genomic Sciences and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from the National Autonomous University of Mexico. She is currently the Head of the Bioinformatics Department at the National Institute of Genomic Medicine and a researcher in Human Genomics and Cancer. Additionally, she is a member of the National System of Researchers Level I and a professor at the School of Medicine and Health Sciences at the Monterrey Institute of Technology. Dr. Gómez is part of several multidisciplinary teams, where she considers bioinformatics, computational biology, data science and artificial intelligence as one of the pillars for addressing disease and health-related questions and to generate high social impact improving people's quality of life.
