Overview
Dr. Ricardo E. Buitrago R. is a Research Associate Professor in Strategy and International Management at EGADE Business School, Tecnológico de Monterrey, where he also serves as National Director of Doctoral Programs and Lead Editor of Case-Hub.
With extensive experience in academia, Dr. Buitrago previously held positions as Program Head and Dean at universities in Colombia and has been a visiting professor at various institutions across Latin America. He currently serves as President of the Business Association for Latin American Studies (BALAS), and holds leadership roles in several international organizations, including membership in the Academy of International Business (AIB), Executive Director of the Emerging Multinationals Research Network, and ambassador for the Andean region of the IE-Scholars network.
His research focuses on the intersection of international political economy, institutions, strategy, and international business. He has contributed to leading academic publications as both editor and reviewer, including the Journal of Business Research, International Business Review, European Management Journal, and International Studies of Management & Organization.
Before entering academia, Dr. Buitrago built a career in the financial sector, working in banking and consulting for financial institutions in Colombia and Puerto Rico. His professional experience also includes roles as Project and Marketing Manager for various Colombian firms.
