Buitrago-Rubiano, Ricardo Ernesto
Overview
Ricardo E. Buitrago R. serves as the National Director of Doctoral programs at EGADE Business School. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in International Trade, a Specialist in International Business Management, a Master's Degree in International Relations, a PhD in Public Policy Modeling and Management, and a PhD in System Dynamics.
Before joining EGADE Business School, he served as Program Head and Dean at universities in Colombia. In addition, he has been a visiting professor at different universities in Latin America.
President of the Business Association for Latin American Studies (BALAS) 2024-2026, and Executive Director of the Emerging Multinationals Research Network (EMRN). He recently joined the Academic Advisory Board of the Emerging Markets Institute (EMI) at Cornell University. He is also a member of the Academy of International Business (AIB / AIB-LAC) and the Global Strategy and Emerging Markets (GSEM) consortium. Finally, he serves as ambassador for the Andean region of the IE-Scholars network.
His research interests focus on the confluence between international political economy, institutions, strategy and international business. He has served as editor and reviewer for the Journal of Business Research, International Business Review, European Management Journal, and International Studies of Management & Organization, among others.
Before joining the academic world, he worked in the financial sector and was a consultant for several financial institutions in Colombia and Puerto Rico. He also served as Project and Marketing Manager for multiple companies in Colombia.
