Overview
Andrés F. Mejía is a full professor and associate head of the Department of Accounting and Finance at the Business School of Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (Querétaro, México). He holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Management, specializing in Finance, from Universidad de Los Andes (Bogotá, Colombia). He also earned an MBA from Universidad Nacional de Colombia (Bogotá, Colombia) and a bachelor's degree in Public Accountancy from Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia (Tunja, Colombia). His primary research interests include corporate finance and governance, capital markets, industrial organization, applied econometrics, and the economics of regulation.
Among his most cited works are two papers focusing on firm capital structure. According to Google Scholar, he ranks third in citations in Spanish for capital structure research and fourth for capital markets and business economics studies. He has served as a professor at various Colombian universities, including Universidad de Los Andes, Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano, Universidad de la Salle, and Universidad del Cauca. Additionally, he has contributed to the development of exams for undergraduate students through ICFES (Instituto Colombiano para el Fomento de la Educación Superior, Colombia). In Mexico, he participates in certification processes for capital markets roles with AMIB (Asociación Mexicana de Instituciones Bursátiles) and CONSAR (Comisión Nacional del Sistema de Ahorro para el Retiro).
