Castaño-Moreno, Erika Yaneth

Overview

I am a nutritionist from the Universidad de Antioquia (Colombia) with an MSc and Ph.D. in Nutrition and Food from Universidad de Chile. My career bridges public health and molecular nutrition, with experience spanning clinical, academic, and research settings. I have focused on maternal and early-life nutrition, studying how obesity alters folate and vitamin B12 metabolism and its impact on offspring health. Currently, as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Obesity Research, Tecnológico de Monterrey, my work explores obesity-related metabolic alterations across the lifespan through omics approaches, emphasizing one-carbon metabolism. I also serve as the Colombian Delegate to the DOHaD Society (Latin America). My long-term goal is to establish an independent research program on the early origins of the double burden of malnutrition, integrating molecular and epidemiological perspectives.
