Salgado-Granados, Nayeli Noyolitzin

Overview

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (Tec de Monterrey (Mexico City area). I hold a Ph.D. in Economics from WU, where I previously served as a Research and Teaching Associate in the Department of Socioeconomics. My academic background includes a bachelor's degree in Economics from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), a master's degree in Development Economics from the University Carlos III of Madrid (UC3M), and another in Economic Development and Growth from Lund University. Before joining Tec de Monterrey, I was the National Housing Policy Coordinator at the Ministry of Agrarian, Urban, and Land Development (SEDATU), where I led the implementation of a new agenda on adequate housing, self-housing production, and the management of abandoned housing at the national level. My professional experience encompasses the design, implementation, and evaluation of public policies, as well as project management. I also collaborated with the Poverty Analysis Division at the National Council for the Evaluation of Social Policy (CONEVAL), where I was part of the core team that developed and implemented the official methodology for measuring multidimensional poverty in Mexico, and contributed to the national chapter of Transparency International. My research interests lie in economic history, economic development, and economic geography. I utilize historical microdata and natural experiments to explore topics such as agricultural policies, infrastructure investments, and labor dynamics, aiming to understand how historical events influence long-term development patterns.
