Herbas-Torrico, Boris Christian
Overview
I hold a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering and Management from the Tokyo Institute of Technology (Japan). My doctoral research focused on the development of advanced statistical models to understand consumer behavior across diverse cultural and economic contexts worldwide. The core of my dissertation involved the design, deployment, and analysis of international multilingual surveys conducted across several continents, aiming to construct comprehensive models of customer satisfaction and quality that reveal both subtle differences and common patterns in the consumption of goods and services.
My expertise lies in the formulation of statistical models that integrate psychological, cultural, and attitudinal variables to explain consumer behavior. I currently serve as an Associate Research Professor (M25) at the Tecnológico de Monterrey, Guadalajara Campus, where my research spans a wide range of topics, including statistical models of consumer behavior, corporate social responsibility, factory physics, behavioral economics, and behavioral finance.
In addition to my academic career, I have a solid professional background in industry, particularly in the design, implementation, and certification of ISO 9001 quality management systems. For five years, I served as Quality Manager at Phocos AG (Bolivia), ensuring compliance with rigorous international standards. In parallel, I worked as a consultant, assisting various private companies in the successful adoption and certification of the ISO 9001 standard. During this period, I also served as a part-time lecturer at the Universidad Mayor de San Simón (Bolivia).
My skill set includes market research, statistical modeling of economic, social, and business processes, and a distinctive competence in conducting international multilingual consumer surveys and performing cross-cultural data analyses. I also have experience in hedonic quality evaluation and psychological analysis of consumer behavior.
