Acevedo-Mascarúa, Joaquín

Overview

Joaquín Acevedo is the Associate Academic Dean of the School of Engineering and Sciences at Tecnológico de Monterrey, where he leads the management and evaluation of the academic portfolio, promotes educational innovation, and oversees the accreditation of undergraduate programs. Previously, he was the Regional Dean of the School in the Monterrey Region, coordinating academic operations at the Laguna, Monterrey, and Saltillo campuses. He also collaborated with the Academic Vice-Provost of Tecnológico de Monterrey as Director of Faculty Development and Leader of Transformation Processes (2014-2017), participating in the design and implementation of the Tec21 Educational Model. He also worked for Tecmilenio University (2012-2014), where he led the development of its educational model based on professional competency certification. Recently, he has supported various universities in Central and South America in forming their educational models. Professor at Tecnológico de Monterrey since 1990, he has held roles such as Director of the Chemical Engineering Department (2002-2006), Director of the Environmental Quality Center (2006-2007), and various positions in the School of Engineering at the Monterrey Campus (2008-2012), including the Direction of the Engineering Division, Director of Research and Graduate Studies, and Director of Academic Programs. He has been a member of the National System of Researchers (SNI) and has more than 40 publications in national and international journals in modeling, simulation, and process optimization, energy efficiency, and alternative fuels. He has filed five patents, three of which have been granted and two published. Additionally, he has collaborated with over 50 companies such as BASF, Henkel, British Petroleum, Pemex, and Ternium on process development and optimization projects and environmental assessments. He holds a Bachelor's (1987) and Master's (1990) degree in Chemical Engineering from Tecnológico de Monterrey, and a Doctorate in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London (1996).
