Rodríguez-Macías, Fernando Jaime

Prof. Fernando Rodriguez-Maci¿as research focuses on the synthesis of nanostructured materials and composites based on carbon nanomaterials. Since 2016 he is a professor at Tecnologico de Monterrey in the area of Chemistry and Nanotechnology of the Department of Science and the Graduate Program in Nanotechnology of the School of Engineering and Science of Tecnologico de Monterrey. He worked previously as a professor at the graduate program in Nanoscience and Advanced Materials at IPICYT (San Luis Potosi¿, Mexico) and as a Visiting Professor in the Department of Chemistry and the Graduate Program in Materials Science at Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (Recife, Brasil). He graduated with a B.S. in Chemistry (with honors) from Tecnologico de Monterrey, and has an M.A. in Chemistry from Rice University (Houston, TX, USA), where he worked in the production and purification of carbon nanotubes with Prof. Richard E. Smalley (Chemistry Nobel, 1996). His doctoral research topic was on chemical functionalization of carbon nanotubes for polymer composite applications, with Prof. Enrique V. Barrera in the Materials Science Department of Rice. As a professor at IPICYT he continued developing research projects on carbon nanomaterials and their composites with polymers, semiconductor quantum dots, and in carbon-carbon composites. He has advised several B.S, M.S. and Ph.D. thesis, and published in several high impact factor journals, including Science, Nano Letters and Nano Today, his publications have been cited thousands of times and has an h- index of 11.
