Rivas-Gómez, Elfide Mariela
Overview
Mariela Rivas Gómez, Ph.D. in Architecture and Urban Affairs with SUMMA CUM LAUDE distinction and Excellence Scholarship from the AMEXCID of the Government of Mexico. Currently, she is a research professor at the School of Architecture, Art, and Design (EAAD) at the Tecnológico de Monterrey and a candidate member of the Sistema Nacional de Investigadores (SNI).
With an outstanding international career, she was a professor of Urbanism at Universidad Simón Bolívar in Caracas, Venezuela, from 2006 to 2016, and held managerial roles at the Consejo Nacional de la Vivienda and the Instituto de la Vivienda in Miranda, Venezuela, from 1999 to 2016.
In the private sector, she coordinated numerous Proyectos de Habilitación Física de Barrios Populares and Proyectos Urbano-Ambientales in Venezuela. Among her recent contributions, she prominently led the project "Arroyo Vivo: Remediation and Recycling Model" in Monterrey, Mexico, from February to December 2022. Additionally, she actively participated in the "Preliminary Study of Urban Resilience in San Pedro Garza García Municipality, NL, Mexico," in 2021.
From 2019 to 2023, Dra. Rivas Gómez was a graduate professor at the Facultad de Arquitectura at the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL),
consolidating her academic experience. Her main research focuses on risk management and resilience in vulnerable cities and communities, as well as addressing housing issues in the global south.
In 2011 he received the Medal and Diploma of Honor for Merit in its Only Class from the Governor of the Bolivarian State of Miranda, awarded by Governor Henrique Capriles Radonski. Venezuela
