Water scarcity is an urgent environmental issue that demands innovative strategies to foster awareness and action within society. In this context, the present study examines the impact of a customized conversational model, Alma de Tezontle, on raising awareness among university students about the water crisis. Using a quasi-experimental design, we compared the waterrelated perceptions of an experimental group, which interacted with the conversational model, and a control group, which received traditional instruction. The results show that the experimental group achieved a higher overall mean score compared to the control group, with a statistically significant difference according to Student's t-test. Furthermore, the effect size calculation (Cohen's d=0.40) indicated a moderate impact of the AI-based intervention. These findings suggest that interacting with Alma de Tezontle contributed to a greater awareness of the water crisis, highlighting the potential of conversational models in environmental education. In conclusion, integrating artificial intelligence into environmental education represents a promising tool for strengthening ecological awareness and fostering reflection on water sustainability.
