abstract

  • This paper presents how to develop and evaluate mathematical skills using videos. A methodology is used to develop mathematical skills in engineering students, which includes the use of 3d tools and videos. We present a scale to measure eight mathematical skills: argumentation, communication, modeling, problem solving, representation, mathematical language and use of technological tools. This scale is used to evaluate videos as pre-test and post-test. Alternatively, a final test is applied that measures the level of development of mathematical skills. It is found that the average relative gain in the development of mathematical skills is 33.7%. It is also found that there is a statistically significant relationship between the learning gain measured with the videos and the final test of the students. © 2020 ACM.
