- © 2020New data about coefficient of friction (CoF) behavior and wear rates of boriding CoCrMo alloy under rolling and grooving micro-abrasion modes is presented in this work. The hard-cobalt boride layer was produced on an ASTM F1537 CoCrMo alloy by a powder-pack boriding treatment. The tribological tests were run in an instrumented micro-abrasion tester. The results demonstrated that boriding improves the wear resistance under both micro-abrasion wear modes while it decreased CoF only under the grooving abrasion mechanism.
