The new educational model called TEC21 of the Tecnologico de Monterrey is based on Challenges that are elaborated in each Training Unit (UF) which lasts 5 weeks, these Challenges are projects that are previously designed together with a training partner depending on the competencies disciplines at UF and the transversal skills that the student is expected to develop. A training partner is a figure from industry, government, or civil society organization who is an educational partner. Preparing a project in 5 weeks with high academic quality and that solves the problems raised by the training partner requires the use of project management methodologies that empower students in the development of their skills. This contribution shares the methodology designed by the teaching team for the management of Challenges based on the best practices of soft systems methodologies as well as Agile methodologies in such a way that these can be designed and completed during the UF. The results obtained by the students when applying this educational innovation for the management of Challenges are presented, as well as the recommendations for its application both at an educational level and in the industry.
