abstract

  • The TEC21 educational model based on competencies of Tecnológico de Monterrey is based on challenges that are elaborated in each block. The challenges are projects designed jointly with a training partner and seek to develop in the student disciplinary competences of the block and transversal competences. The In-vitro experimentation block has been assigned as a block with human sensibility related to the UN's Sustainable Development Goal 15 (SDG): life on land, with a duration of 10 weeks. The challenge seeks to design and implement a protocol to sustainably and ethically conserve plant species with the use of biotechnology. The training partner for the August-December 2022 semester was the Management Unit for the Conservation of Wildlife (UMA) Dehesa San Isidro. This contribution seeks to develop a project management process based on the reduction of time in research and development by applying design of experiments, which allows the plant to achieve its sustainable use. The results obtained by the students when applying this educational innovation for the management of Challenges in biotechnology are presented, as well as recommendations for its application both at the educational level and in the industry. © 2024 by the authors.
