  • The preparation of professionals in managerial sciences and economics requires teaching processes that incorporate efficient methods to facilitate the development of specific professional and soft competencies, which provide them with mastery to perform successfully in the work environment. Competency-based education is an educational model that has facilitated the development of students¿ competencies based on practical learning experiences to develop and demonstrate the competencies necessary for their professional success. The School of Business and Economics at ICESI University, Colombia, develops educational processes to develop competencies in students of this postgraduate program. Therefore, this work led to the survey of the perceptions of 282 students enrolled in the Master¿s programs of this school about their educational experience and the development of communicational and ethical skills acquired in their training. The results showed a favorable trend over time, in general, in all programs and a high perception of the development of ethical and communicational competencies in the studied programs. These findings made it possible to identify areas of strength within the educational offer at the university, as well as opportunities to improve satisfaction in specific programs and curricular aspects. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.
