Sharing Experiences on Artificial Intelligence Through Prompt Engineering to Create CNC Programs in an Engineering Course Chapter in Scopus uri icon

abstract

  • Large Language Models (LLMs) are currently being used to assist users in various tasks such as information search, dynamic assistants, text writing, image generation, and programming codes, to name a few. However, exploring them to determine their scope in other areas is still necessary. This article shares the experiences of using Prompt Engineering to generate CNC programs for machine parts. Initially, the learning levels of CNC programming are described, then some activities are implemented to determine the scope of an LLM, and finally, the results are shared. Among the above is that the LLM used can generate CNC programs with the help of the coordinates of the vertices of the geometries to be machined. Another result was that LLM still had problems interpreting complex drawings to generate CNC programs. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.
