Mejía-Manzano, Luis Alberto

Overview

Dr. Luis Alberto Mejía Manzano is currently a professor at the Tecnológico de Monterrey, Monterrey campus. His area of ¿¿expertise is the design and development of bioprocesses through the extraction, recovery and purification of biomolecules of interest (bioactive compounds, therapeutic proteins and viruses). He has solid knowledge in the analytical area, bioprocesses and experimental design. He has participated in the formulation of research proposals in the individual and group modalities in national and international calls. In the training of human resources and scientific vocations. Dr. has advised undergraduate and graduate students in the area of ¿¿research, co-advising Master's theses in Biotechnology. At the beginning he was an assistant professor of Organic Chemistry and provided advice in the Chemical-Mathematical-Biological area to students at the basic, middle, and upper middle levels for his bachelor degree with a focus on initiation to teaching practice. Also, he performs research in the educative field. At a professional level, he has taught laboratory courses on bioprocesses, bioreactors, bioseparations, transport phenomena and the structure of biomolecules. He worked as a Process Analyst at Sigma Alimentos and as a Heavy Metals and Chromatography Analyst in Technical Analysis in a safety laboratory. He completed a research stay at the University of Chile as part of his doctorate. He has participated in various evaluation committees for internal and external projects. He recently completed a stay at Michigan Technological University as a Visiting Scholar, conducting research in the field of vaccine manufacturing and teaching undergraduate and graduate students. He belongs to the National System of Researchers level 1 with an H index of 8.
