Estrada-Díaz, Silvia Elizabeth

Overview

Silvia Elizabeth Estrada Díaz completed her Master's degree in Science with a specialization in Chemical Engineering at the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, Campus Monterrey (1999), and holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Faculty of Chemical Sciences of the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (1994). She is currently finishing her PhD in Productive Biotechnology at the Instituto Politécnico Nacional. She was a professor at ITESM, Campus Monterrey in the Departments of Thermal and Control, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Agricultural Engineering from 1996 to 2005 in the areas of Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, and Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. She has participated in diploma courses at ITESM, Campus Monterrey, the Center for Energy Studies, the Center for Business Competitiveness, and the Center for Development and Product Innovation in collaboration with VITRO, Flat Glass, Siemens, and the National Commission for Energy Saving (CONAE). She has conducted projects for companies such as Owens Corning, CEMIX, S.A. de C.V., PROLEC GE, S. de R.L. de C.V., Gas Natural México, SK Engineering and Construction, Galvak, and Motores Mecánicos Monterrey, among others. She was a member of ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers), served as an advisor for the student chapter of ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers), and also participated as an affiliated professor in the Energy Chair and in thermofluids projects with ITESM, Campus Monterrey. She was Head of the Biotechnology Engineering Department from June 2011 to January 2016. She was Director of the Engineering Program in Biotechnology and Sustainable Development. In 2023, she was reclassified as an assistant teaching professor and received recognition from the Alumni Community at the "Dejando Huella" event in the same year. She was the Director of Entry and the IQ Program and currently, she is a professor in the Department of Sustainable Technologies and Civil Engineering at the School of Engineering and Sciences.
