Guevara-Morales, Andrea

Overview

Dra. Andrea Guevara Morales graduated from Mechatronics Engineering at Tec de Monterrey Campus Estado de Mexico. She obtained a Master of Science degree in Advanced Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London, working with epoxy/clay polymer nanocomposites for electrical applications. The study consisted in the synthesis and characterization of nanocomposites, and the evaluation of their mechanical and electrical properties. She continued with her PhD studies at Imperial College London within the Fracture of Polymers group, performing research on rapid crack propagation in multilayered pipes. Her research focused on the effect of processing in structure, morphology and residual stress distribution within the polymer and their impact on service performance. She is now a Researcher at the Advanced Manufacturing group of the School of Engineering and Science at Tec de Monterrey. She leads along with Dr. Ulises Figueroa the Plastics Technology Group and the Fracto-Mechanical Testing of Engineering Plastics Laboratory at Campus Estado de México. Her main research interests are fracture of polymers, RCP in polymer pipes, polymer processing and tooling design, ultra-high-performance polymers, wear and mechanical recycling of plastics.
