Overview

Dr. Arturo Vargas Olivares is a graduate of the Tecnológico de Monterrey Campus Estado de México from the Electronics and Communications Engineering program. He got his engineering degree on May 2004. He is also a graduate from the Doctoral Program in Engineering Sciences. He got his PhD degree on May 2017. As an engineer he has worked in several areas such as research and development of electronic devices for security and access control applications, biometric devices and integration of systems and solutions in the areas of information and communications technologies. During his doctoral studies he carried out a research project in the area of biomedical engineering. This research project consists in the development of a real-time image segmentation tool for the treatment planning of the High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) Therapy guided by Magnetic Resonance Imaging. Several applications in the medical area are possible using this therapeutic modality, being the non-invasive treatment of cancer one of the most attractive. This project is developed in a collaboration between the Tecnológico de Monterrey Campus Estado de México and the Thunder Bay Regional Research Institute in Ontario, Canada. The research work continues under the inspiration of making more contributions to the efforts to increase the safety of the therapeutic method of HIFU and its establishment as a method of high efficiency within the existing options in the clinical field for the treatment of cancer. Dr. Arturo Vargas Olivares is a professor at the Tecnológico de Monterrey Campus Estado de México since August 2015 and Campus Ciudad de México since August 2018, and at a professional level he has taught different courses, including Signal and Systems Analysis, Mechatronics Instrumentation Laboratory, Electronics, Applied Electronics, Computer Equipment Interfaces, Microcontrollers and Robot Vision. At the High School of Tecnológico de Monterrey Campus Estado de Mexico he has taught the Applied Design and Technology Project (Drones: Systems and Subsystems) since January 2018. Dr. Arturo Vargas Olivares is an enthusiast of Graphic Arts (drawing, painting and photography), Science, Electronics, History, Scale Modeling focused on the periods of World War II and Cold War, he is an entrepreneur, music lover and an avid collector of records (Long Play and Compact Disc) and professional watches.
