Calvillo-Corona, Luis Antonio

Overview

Director of the Mechatronics Engineering Program at the Querétaro Campus, a role I have performed with great enthusiasm and dedication since March 2021. I have more than 20 years of experience teaching both theoretical and laboratory courses in English and Spanish. I am an electronic systems engineer who graduated from ITESM with honors. I also hold a Master of Science in Automatic Control from CINVESTAV-IPN and a PhD from the INPG Automation Laboratory in Grenoble, France. In the business sector, I was Director of Research and Development for 15 years and have two patents registered at IMPI. As the IMT Program Director, I will be responsible for: - Serving more than 200 students annually to guide them toward academic success. - Leading and participating in the pursuit of ABET Program Accreditation through September 30, 2028. - Directing the activities of the "New Competency Assessment Model" session at the 2022 National Faculty Meeting. - Presenting on ABET accreditation at the 2023 Academic Conference. - Implement the educational innovation "Implementation of the Coaching Model at UF WKIT1001S" together with the Directors of IIT, Querétaro Campus, whose results are being developed into the Student Success Plan that will be implemented nationwide in August 2025. - Conduct workshops for both PrepaTec students and external high schools to attract the best talent to IMT, maintaining an average enrollment of 30 new students each August. - Organize the Final Projects Fair for the UF Design and Implementation of Mechatronic Systems. - Achieve Assistant Professor status in May 2024. As a professor: - Prepare and teach materials for various courses related to industrial automation, manufacturing systems automation, mechatronic systems design and implementation, and various types of laboratories. - Continually take training courses to improve my teaching methods. As Director of Research and Development, I was responsible for: - Leading a team of engineers to study the specific needs of our various clients to offer the best technological and economic solutions. This has allowed us to manufacture specialized products such as electronic railway equipment (S.T.C.-METRO, Bombardier, CAF), energy consumption monitoring equipment (FIDE), LED lighting for pharmaceutical laboratories (Janssen, Vicma), industrial plants and offices (P&G, Unilever, J&J), and LED lamps and rechargeable batteries for mines (3M, Grupo México, Peñoles). - Drafting, registering, and obtaining patents for the designed products. The skills and competencies I possess: - Participative leadership and collaboration in teams with diverse talents and abilities to achieve results. - Focused, passionate, and perseverant to achieve the objectives set in each project I participate in. - Excellent presentation and communication skills. - Creative thinking as a key to generating new ideas and solving complex problems. - Ability to learn and quickly adapt to new challenges of all kinds. - Building lasting relationships with collaborators, managers, and students. Strengths for success in educational positions include: - Using a variety of technologies and methodologies to develop course materials and deliver courses. - Helping students develop their talents through a variety of activities, generating creative solutions. - Teaching students the importance of teamwork focused on responsibility, ethics, cooperation, and tolerance to achieve established goals.
