Reyes-Retana, José Angel
Overview
José Ángel Reyes Retana. Doctor in Materials Science and Engineering
José Ángel Reyes Retana is of Mexican nationality, born in 1980. He completed his higher education in the Faculty of Sciences at the National Autonomous University of Mexico from 2000 to 2004. During this period, he was recognized with the university merit medal for the best grade point average of his generation (Gabino Barreda Medal). In February 2005, he obtained his degree as a Physicist with honors.
That same year, he began his postgraduate studies at the Institute for Research in Materials. His specialization area was materials science and engineering, in particular the study of electronic materials through supercomputing techniques. In January 2007, the National University granted him the title of Master in Materials Science and Engineering upon passing his doctoral candidacy exam.
During his doctoral studies, he completed an academic exchange in the summer of 2008 in Sheffield, England (University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University). Before receiving his doctorate, he participated in various national physics congresses and international materials science conferences. In March 2011, he obtained his Doctorate degree in Materials Science and Engineering with honors.
Dr. Reyes has published research articles in different international peer-reviewed journals, as well as a book chapter and a book in the area of amorphous chalcogenides. He is currently a member of the "International Forum of Chalcogeniders" where there are only 272 members worldwide and 5 have an affiliation in Mexico.
From 2012 to 2014, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute of Physics (UNAM). His research lines are metallic glasses and metal-chalcogenide compound nanoribbons and low-dimensionality materials. He currently belongs to the Department of Mechanics and Advanced Materials at the Tecnológico de Monterrey, Santa Fe Campus.
