Fierro-Radilla, Atoany Nazareth

Overview

Professor and Researcher in Artificial Intelligence & Computer Vision Atoany Fierro holds a B.Sc. in Communications and Electronics Engineering (IPN, 2012), an M.Sc. in Microelectronics Engineering (IPN, 2015), and a Ph.D. in Communications and Electronics Engineering (IPN, 2019). With extensive experience in both industry and academia, he began his career at Huawei Technologies (2012) as a Radio Communications Engineer and later as a GSM (2G) Support Engineer for Latin America. During his graduate studies, he conducted research at the University of Electro-Communications of Tokyo (2015), focusing on deep learning and computer vision. In 2021, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Oxford Immune Algorithmics (UK/UAE), further strengthening his expertise in artificial intelligence. His academic work has been recognized with awards such as the Best Paper Award (2021) for his research on CNN-based ASL alphabet recognition and a nomination for Best Paper at the Mexican International Conference on Artificial Intelligence (2022) for his contributions to white blood cell detection in medical images. He has published over a dozen scientific papers, delivered international conference talks, and was a member of the Mexican Society of Artificial Intelligence (2020¿2022). As an educator, he has taught at institutions such as Universidad Anáhuac, Universidad Panamericana, and Universidad Tecnológica de Honduras. Currently, he is a Full-Time Professor at Tecnológico de Monterrey (Mechatronics Department), where his research focuses on machine learning, computer vision, and deep learning.
