Torres-Huitzil, Cesar
Overview
César Torres-Huitzil holds a Doctor degree in computer science from the National Institute for Astrophysics Optics and Electronics (INAOE) and a M.S. degree in electronics from the same institute, obtained in 2003 and 1998, respectively. He was a postdoctoral fellow, 2004-2005, in the Cortex team, INRIA Nancy Grand Est, France. He was a senior researcher at the Center for Research and Advanced Studies (CINVESTAV) in the research unit located in Tamaulipas, Mexico from 2009 to 2018. He has more than 20 years of experience in designing dedicated neural-like parallel hardware architectures. He has conducted fundamental and applied research projects in computer vision, digital signal processing, neural computing and cognitive dynamic systems. Dr. Torres has published more than 100 papers in international conferences, journals and book chapters, and he has served as a regular reviewer for international conferences and major peer review journals. He has graduated 9 master and 4 PhDs students in PNP-Conacyt graduate programs in different institutions. He is Senior Member of the IEEE and member of the Research National System of Mexico, the Mexican Academy of Computing, and the Mexican Academy of Sciences.
From 2018-2020 Dr. Torres was the Regional Director of the Computer Science Department, South Region,
Currently he is a Professor Researcher in the Computer Science Department, Campus Puebla, Tecnologico de Monterrey, México. His research interest includes neuromorphic computing, cognitive dynamic systems, computational neuroscience and cyberphysical systems.
