Rivera-Solorio, Carlos Iván

Overview

Dr. Carlos Rivera has a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Houston in Thermofluids. He has a master's degree in mechanical engineering from UNAM. His research interests are solar energy, convective heat transfer, CFD, phase change materials, renewable energies and nanofluids. Dr. Rivera has published more than 40 international Scopus publications with more than 500 international article citations. He has presented their results at several national and international conferences. Dr. Rivera is co-author of 5 national and 3 international patents in the areas of nanofluids and solar energy. He has advised more than 40 master theses and 8 doctoral theses. He participated as co-founder of two startups for production of lubricant with nanoparticles. He has been working on several national and international projects for industry and governmental agencies for more than 20 years. Some of the projects where Dr. Rivera has participated as a leader or co-leader of external funded projects for more than one million dollars are the following. Next Generation Hybrid PV-technologies for zero-carbon industrial and heat power (Imperial College London, Royal Society, 2020-2024), Photovoltaic panels reuse in power generation plants in Mexico (Iberdrola-Tec, 2021-2022). The use of IEE platform to build intelligent cities that enhance the generation of climate action plans in the Monterrey metropolitan area (ICLEI-Google, 2020-2021). Applications of nanofluids for food heating equipment and Flow analysis in conveyor oven (Manitowoc, Welbit, 2020-2021), Consortium for Energy Efficiency in Non-Residential Buildings in Mexico (SENER-CONAHCYT Energetic Sustainability Funds Mexico-University of California, 2017). He is member of the National Research System (SNI-II-Conahcyt). He is currently a full professor of the Mechanical Engineering Department and member of the Institute of Advanced Materials for Sustainable Manufacturing.
