Oscar Pérez Méndez has a Master in Sciences of Life and Health (Diplôme d'études approfondies Sciences de la Vie et de la Santé) from the School of Science and Technology, University of Lille I, and a PhD in Biochemistry from the School of Pharmacy, University of Lille II, France, with honors. He did his PhD project in Pasteur Institute of Lille, France. He was awarded a fellowship from the European Community for a postdoctoral position in the University of Ghent, Belgium. He joined the Instituto Nacional de Cardiología in Mexico City in 1998, where he is the head of the Department of Molecular Biology. He has more than 110 international publications. He has received several grants from CONACYT and the pharmaceutical industry. He has been a lecturer for more than 20 years in the Faculties of Chemistry and Medicine, UNAM. He joined the Department of Bioengineering of Tec campus CCM in 2020 and belongs to CONACYT's National Researchers System (SNI) as Level 3.
