Barajas-Álvarez, Paloma

Overview

Paloma Barajas Álvarez is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Tecnológico de Monterrey, with an academic background in Chemical Engineering. She obtained her Ph.D. in Science with a specialization in Biotechnological Innovation from CIATEJ A.C., where she focused on agri-food biotechnology, and holds a Master¿s degree in Biotechnological Process Sciences from the University of Guadalajara. Her research focuses on the valorization of agro-industrial residues through technologies such as anaerobic digestion, composting, and fermentation, as well as on the assessment of the environmental impact of these strategies using life cycle analysis and process simulation. She is involved in projects aimed at facilitating the transition toward sustainable food systems. She has taught courses in Biotechnology and Chemical Engineering at Tecnológico de Monterrey, covering topics such as separation and reaction processes, bioreactor design, bioprospecting, and bioseparation strategies.
