Reza-Zaldívar, Edwin Estefan
Overview
I'm a biology graduate specializing in experimental biology from the Autonomous University of Sinaloa. I hold a Master of Science in Biotechnological Innovation from the Center for Research and Assistance in Technology and Design of the State of Jalisco A.C (CIATEJ). I also obtained a Doctor of Science in Biotechnological Innovation with Honorable Mention from CIATEJ and am a member of the national system of researchers level 1.
My area of expertise is the development of experimental preclinical models of pathologies of chronic degenerative diseases through cell reprogramming, tissue culture, and in vivo modeling. My studies have focused on four closely related areas:
- Cellular Therapy and regeneration in the central nervous system, including Neurogenesis in Adults
- Physiopathological mechanisms of Chronic-degenerative Diseases such as Alzheimer's Disease and metabolic syndrome
- Development and formulation of products with therapeutic potential in chronic-degenerative diseases.
I'm a Postdoctoral fellow at the Institute for the Study of Obesity at the Institute of Technology and Higher Studies of Monterrey. My research studies are focused on evaluating nutraceuticals and exosomes with anti-obesity potential and nootropic activity in in vitro and in vivo models. I'm author of more than 20 articles in peer-reviewed journals. I've served as an advisor for 5 theses, including two doctoral degrees, one master's degree, one specialty degree, and one bachelor's degree. Also, I've participated in the writing and execution of 4 research projects, of which two are supported by the Fondo de Desarrollo Científico de Jalisco para atender retos sociales "FODECIJAL" and one supported by the Institute's Tech Challenge Research seed fund call Technological and Higher Studies of Monterrey.
Moreover, I have contributed as a professor of topics and laboratories of mammalian tissue cultures, cell biology, and molecular biology. Finally, I'm a peer-reviewer for international journals such as Frontiers in Cellular Neuropathology, Frontiers in Experimental Therapeutics, Neural Regeneration Research, and ACS Food Science & Technology.
